Well here I was thinking 2010 was going to be a great year for us to get out of debt...due to unforseen circumstances my budget is back to square one and our bills are piling up and we need to get back on track...any ideas would be great...I have cleared out the shed and looking at ebaying the stuff...I don't use a price book but the food side of the budget is fine, we have down graded our car which has halved our fuel consumption...now lets hope we have no more medical dramas which have put us back into this position!!!
First order of business is to renew my cheapskates membership that ran out on the 4th!!!!
Thanks for any hints and tips you can give me |

Have you thought about having a garage sale instead of ebaying the items from the shed? Maybe see if the neighbours would like to have one as well on the same day and make a day of it, they can be really fun. Ebay fees are getting out of control and that money is better in your pocket than theirs. |

I agree, I recently listed some items on e-bay and less than half of them sold, I still had to pay around $50 in fees and then pay pal fees on top of that!!
I am saving my gear now until I can have a bumper garage sale!!! |

I hear there are other Aussie sites like Ebay. www.oztion.com.au or just classifieds like http://www.ozfreeonline.com/ or http://brisbane.gumtree.com.au/ there is one for sydney and other major cities. I haven't personally used these sites but a friend bought a dog via gumtree and another one bought furniture. I will be selling an electronic drum kit soon and will be considering one of these sites as opposed to ebay.
Good luck :) |

Hi Kay,
Do you have an emergency fund?
To cover you for the unforeseen "surprises" that will surely come? Surprises like these have waylaid many a plan to get out of debt which is why saving a small emergency fund is a first step before you try and attack your debt load.
I have been following Dave Ramsey's plan to reduce my debt from $17,000 to $14,000. It is my mission to clear it all by February of next year.
I sincerely wish you the best of luck, Kay.
Gary
