Des Would like a recipe to make homemade washing powder for top loader. Would like to hear feedback if you have tried it, does it save much money, is it good for sensitive skin etc......

Kirsty I use it in a top loader and it is OK.

First recipe i tried was

1 bar of soap
1 cup letric soda
1/2 cup borax

I found that the whites were not as white as I would have liked so this time I have made it 1 cup of borax. I only just made it up last night and my first load is in the washing machine now so can't give you a verdict yet.

Aileen M I use soapnuts - you can make your own washing powder from either soapnut shells or soapnut powder (shells are better value for money but make liquid not powder). It works out around $0.09 per wash and there are a few online sellers - I use www.soapinanutshell.com.au and have never had a problem
